Maurice Abrams, Vice President

Susan Berger, President

Lainey Feingold

Jeff Fry
Jeff Fry first became a part of the Chochmat community thorugh the year-long Jewish Spiritual Leadership training program in 1996, and (despite large gaps when he was not in the East Bay) it's been his primary spiritual home ever since. Through Chochmat, Jeff has developed a nourishing Jewish spiritual practice and deepened his relationship to the Holy One. He appreciates and is fed by opportunities to give back to Chochmat HaLev as a volunteer, including serving on Chochmat's Board of Directors. Outside of Chochmat, Jeff is a founding member of Hidden Creek Cohousing in Oakland's Fruitvale neighborhood, works as a software test engineer, and loves to spend time in the backcountry.

Dolores Leavitt

Hank Obermayer
Hank Obermayer has been a community member of Chochmat for about 8 years. He attends services, classes, and workshops and is a member of the chorus. He has introduced a bunch of people to Chochmat, including current members and has volunteered at various events. He attends programming committee meetings, funded the havurah coordinator position and has worked to change membership policies to be more inclusive.

Jim Sinkinson, Treasurer

Miriam Smolover
Miriam Smolover has been involved with Chochmat since its beginnings on 8th St., as a student, certified meditation teacher, and co-director of the Jewish Spiritual Immersion Program and of the Jewish Meditation Teachers' Certification Program in its final two years. She is a founding member of the meditation committee, as well as its co-chair. She is also the clinical director of a counseling director and has facilitated numerous meetings and worked effectively with many organizations. She believes in Chochmat—its purpose and how we manifest that in the world.

Abro Sutker, Secretary

Andrew Utiger
Andrew began attending services at Chochmat in early February 2003. His primary involvement with Chochmat has been in attending celebratory Shabbat services, High Holy Days and other festivals.  He has on occasion attended classes, workshops and special gatherings.  As a member he has attended membership meetings. He has experience in nonprofit management, especially in the area of religious communities. He also serves to represent Chochmat HaLev's LGBT community, the single members, and those who come from non-Jewish backgrounds.

Alix Wall
Alix Wall has been coming to Chochmat for 8 years. She mostly attends Kabbalat Shabbat services, and sometimes the Boundary Crossers Minyan, as well as major holidays. She was also on the search committee that chose Rabbi SaraLeya. Since Rabbi SaraLeya's arrival, Alix has felt a renewed sense of hope. She also has more time now to devote to serving since her volunteer role with the Hazon Food Conference ended. Alix has long worked as a journalist and has good communication skills. Among her other board experience, she has also served on the executive committee of the Hazon Food Conference and the program committee of the Berkeley Jewish Music Festival.
